Who we are

Electric Vehicles HQ ("EVHQ", "we", "us") publishes electric-vehicle news, buying guides and free decision tools at electricvehicleshq.com, including Which EV is right for me? and the EV vs gas cost calculator. EVHQ is an independent publication edited by Slobodan (Dan) and operated from Arizona, United States. This policy explains what information the site handles and why.

Information we collect

Information you give us.

  • Contact form and email. If you write to us, we receive what you send — typically your name, email address and message.
  • Member accounts. If you create an account or sign in, our website platform (Wix) stores your email address, login credentials and basic profile details so you can access member features.

Information you enter into tools. Answers to the Which EV quiz and the ZIP code, mileage and price inputs in the cost calculator are used to show you results. We don't ask for your name in the tools, and we don't use tool inputs to build a personal profile of you.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting platform and service providers receive standard technical data: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring page, approximate location derived from IP, and timestamps. Cookies and similar technologies are described below.

How we use information

  • To run the site and tools, keep them secure, and fix problems.
  • To answer your messages, tips and correction requests.
  • To provide member sign-in and account features.
  • To understand which guides and tools are useful, in aggregate, so we can improve them.
  • To show advertising that helps keep EVHQ free (see below).
  • To comply with law and protect our rights and readers.

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not send marketing email unless you have asked us to.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. EVHQ uses:

  • Essential cookies set by our platform (Wix) for security, load balancing and keeping you signed in.
  • Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. These may be provided by Wix and/or Google Analytics.
  • Advertising cookies (Google AdSense). Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Who we share information with

  • Service providers that run the site for us, such as Wix (hosting, forms, member accounts) and Google (analytics and advertising). They process data under their own privacy policies and contracts.
  • Legal reasons — if required by law, subpoena or to protect safety and rights.
  • Business transfer — if EVHQ is ever sold or merged, reader data would transfer under this policy.

Links to automakers, government sites and retailers take you to sites with their own privacy practices; we're not responsible for them.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you (for example a contact-form message or member account) by emailing contact@electricvehicleshq.com. Depending on where you live — including California and other U.S. states with consumer privacy laws, and the EEA/UK — you may have additional rights such as knowing what categories of data are processed, opting out of targeted advertising, and not being discriminated against for using your rights. We will respond within the time the applicable law requires. We may need to verify your request.

Retention and security

We keep messages and account data only as long as needed for the purpose they were collected, or as the law requires, and then delete them. We rely on reputable providers and HTTPS encryption, but no system is perfectly secure.

Children

EVHQ is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the effective date above, and for material changes we'll note it on this page.
