Editor & main author, Electric Vehicles HQ · Phoenix, Arizona

Dan runs Electric Vehicles HQ and writes or edits every story published under the EVHQ (Dan) byline — EV news, the weekly EV stock round-up, and the site's buying and charging guides. He built EVHQ's decision tools (the Which EV match quiz and the EV vs gas cost calculator) and the Phoenix buyer's guide so readers can go from "should I?" to a confident decision.

EVHQ has covered electric vehicles across more than a hundred published stories — from automaker launches and battery technology to charging rollout and EV stocks. Today our focus is practical: tools and evergreen guides that stay useful long after the news cycle moves on.

How we research

Primary sources first. Guides are checked against the original source wherever one exists:

No made-up numbers. We don't publish test results we didn't run. When a figure is a manufacturer claim or an EPA estimate we say so, and when prices move fast we give a range and point you to the official configurator.

Dated and maintained. Every evergreen guide shows a "Last updated" date. We review buying guides when incentives, prices or model years change, and we note substantive updates.

News vs analysis vs advice. News reports what happened; analysis explains what it means. Market and stock coverage is never personal investment advice.

How our tools work

Which EV is right for me? scores current EVs against your answers — budget, daily driving, charging access and priorities — using published prices and EPA-rated range. It narrows the field; it doesn't replace a test drive.

EV vs gas cost calculator multiplies your annual miles by vehicle efficiency (kWh per 100 miles vs miles per gallon) and electricity and gasoline prices for your ZIP, based on public EIA price data, so you can see a yearly cost comparison. Your own utility rate plan and driving style will move the result — that's why every input is editable.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and, for anything substantive, note the correction on the page. Send corrections to contact@electricvehicleshq.com with the page link.
